STV, the new vehicle tracking system created by AlmavivA for real-time tracking of urban sanitation services in Rome

AlmavivA has created STV, an innovative vehicle tracking system for Ama, the Roman municipal company that is the largest integrated waste management operator in Italy.

For the first time, Ama's cleaning and waste removal services will be monitored with cutting edge technology, transmitting data through WiFi and GPRS.

The STV System, which Italy's leading ICT company has designed for Ama, highlights and records the routes followed by vehicles, as well as waste collection and mechanised street sweeping and washing in course.
The application also provides diagnostic data and alarms regarding the operation of the vehicles and equipment used.

The control room, located at AlmavivA's offices in Rome, collates and manages the data coming from the electronic peripherals, consisting of hardware (CPUs, GPS antennas, GPRS modems and WiFi antennas) and software installed on-board the vehicles, at its data processing centre (Hyperced), which operates 24/7 all year round.

The system, managed by AlmavivA, was presented today by Ama and the City of Rome at Ama's headquarters in the presence of the Mayor, Ignazio Marino.
