Closing event for the HealthSOAF Research Project: platform prototype for Headache treatment

Tuesday 21 April, the Press Room in the Aula Magna at the University of Calabria will be hosting the closing event for the HealthSOAF Research Project that was headed up by AlmavivA.

After about four years of research and experiments, which have brought the Project to an end, a technology platform will be presented, that is the first of its kind in Italy. Providing support to managing the diagnosis and treatment plan (PDTA) for patients suffering from headaches in the Region, the outcome will ensure less improper access to the Emergency Rooms at Hospitals.

This important regional healthcare initiative involved the University and a group of companies headed up by AlmavivA, and included Dedalus, E-Bad and LP1. Together they developed the Project that received co-financing from the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) in the context of PON 2007-2013, in addition to the Pugliese Ciaccio Hospital in Catanzaro and the regional Group of General Medical Practitioners and Specialists belonging to the "Calabria Headache Network". The Project's initial results will be made available, and then detailed and circulated to other Regions in Italy in the upcoming months.

The "Calabria Headache Network" model will be presented by the reference person for the Regional Headache Centre, Dr R. Iannacchero, who will discuss its socio-economic impact and clinical governance. The outcomes of the Project will be presented by F. Malara from AlmavivA, whereas the research contributions made to the HL7 (Health Level Seven) standards and OMG (Object Management Group) will be outlined by Dr. S. Lotti, Chairman of HL7 Italy. Dr. M. Cipolla and Dr. F. Corasaniti, General Medical Practitioners who approved the prototype, will also be responsible for the experiment's results.

Dr R. Barone, Manager of the Calabria Region's Healthcare Department will also attend and discuss the future of Healthcare in Calabria. The initiatives conclusions will be entrusted to Prof. V. Vespri from the University of Florence, and Scientific Consultant to the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR).
