PNI2024 - Premio Nazione per Innovazione (National Innovation Award). Italy’s largest business plan competition for innovative research startups, of which Almaviva is a main partner, took place at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The event was organized by the PNICube Network and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, in collaboration with the universities and research institutes of the Start Cup Lazio as part of Rome Technopole, Spoke 2 “Technology Transfer, New Entrepreneurship, Incubation, and Business Acceleration”.

Four startups from different categories stood out for their innovative projects, each receiving a prize of €25,000.
In the ICT (information and new media technologies) category, supported by Almaviva, the winner was the EFESO project, which develops ultra-low-energy-consumption electronic devices and proposes a new generation of ultra-energy-efficient devices that surpass the current transistor paradigm.

The award was presented by Michele Svidercoschi, Director of Communications, Marketing, and Institutional Relations for Almaviva, who said: “The ICT award goes to a project that stands out for its high innovation potential, translating advanced knowledge into tangible solutions that are capable of generating shared value. An innovative approach, combined with a strong focus on sustainability and digital transformation; a virtuous bridge between research and the productive world. The projects reflects a vision that aligns with Almaviva’s own ethos as an Italian leader in digital technology, one that views collaborative ecosystems as an integral part of the innovation challenge and a crucial component for growth and competitivity at both the national and European levels.”

77 scientific-research-based business projects, winners of the 17 regional Start Cups - true virtuous circuits for innovation and technology transfer in 18 Italian regions - competed for the award, with the involvement of over 400 innovation stakeholders collaborating with the 56 PNICube members, representing over 80% of Italy’s public universities.

Fabrizio Antonini, Almaviva’s Head of Digital Channels Technology, participated in the challenge day for startups in the field of information and communication technologies.
