The much-anticipated Race for the Cure, the biggest event for the prevention and fight against breast cancer in Italy and in the world, will have to be postponed this year dues to the pandemic.
But breast cancer continues on its treacherous path. “We, at Komen Italia”, comments Maura Cosmelli, Corporate Fundraising Deputy General Manager, “feel this responsibility very strongly, and this year, without the ‘live’ races, more than ever, we need everyone’s contribution to continue effectively protecting the health of women.
In fact, the Races for the Cure represent the primary economic motor of Komen Italia. Thanks to the 56 Races organized in 20 years and to the generosity of more than 1 million people who have participated, as well as the Partner Companies, the Association has been able to invest more than €18 million in support of research, prevention and improvements in cancer treatments.”
AlmavivA, a Race for the Cure partner, accompanies Komen Italia’s new initiatives, beginning with the great live marathon which will be held on 17 May, the 21st anniversary of the Rome Race. A live social marathon, full of surprises and thrills, to maintain breast cancer awareness and to support women who are facing this disease during the Covid-19 emergency, raising the funds needed to continue in the battle against these tumors with the same effectiveness.
