Final Review for the FORENSOR European research project: goal achieved with AlmavivA’s contribution

The Final Review for the FORENSOR European research project (security call of the Horizon 2020 program), of which AlmavivA is a partner, was held in Lisbon on April 10th and 11th. At the presence of the Research Executive Agency of the European Commission, the consortium presented the results of the activities completed over the past year and a half, in addition to the final results of the project.

The project partnership—the consortium grouping European industries and research centers—was headed by the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). The participants included AlmavivA (I), STMicroelectronics (I), Fondazione Bruno Kessler (I), JCP Connect (F), Synelixis Solutions (GR), Visionware – Sistemas de Informaçao (PT), Vrije Universitet Bruxelles (B), Policia Local de Valencia (E), Policia Judiciaria – Ministerio da Justiça (P) and EMZA Visual Sense (IL).

The challenge was won, as the European Review was passed successfully. The achieved goal was to create an innovative, wireless, ultra-low power video camera incorporating intelligence, capable of autonomously recognizing specific criminal events and generating alarms and forensic video evidence, which is automatically sent via the Internet from a gateway node to the control room.

The operational prototype was presented to the Project Officer and to the two European Commission reviewers during the morning of the 1st day, through a live demo of the entire FORENSOR platform held at the Portuguese Marine Corps military base (Palhais), at the presence of the base commander.

AlmavivA made a significant contribution. The company designed and produced the central software system and the communication and monitoring protocol with the gateways and sensors, which will allow for exploiting this new technology. As a result, it will be possible to define single inquiry activities, configure the remote sensor network, receive alarms and store the evidence collected, images and video footage to make them available to the police force.

Alessandra Raffone and Sergio Sestili participated for AlmavivA in the Final Review.
