In Villa Malfitano, in Palermo, the focus today will be on investments in Southern Italy. A debate will be held between the institutions and the manufacturing sector and investors who have chosen Sicily to do business. “Investimenti nel mezzogiorno d’Italia: opportunità di sviluppo” (Investments in Southern Italy: development opportunities) is the title of the event promoted by Deloitte and patronized by Svimez and Irfis.

The debate between the General Manager of the Almaviva IT Division, Antonio Amati, and representatives of Open Fiber and RFI will be moderated by the journalist and essayist Sergio Rizzo, who is also the deputy director of the newspaper La Repubblica. The round-table meeting will focus on the Sicily Region’s “New Deal” and international investments in Southern Italy. After the opening speech by Pierlugi Brienza of Deloitte, Luca Bianchi of Svimez will speak about the economic prospects and investment opportunities for Southern Italy, while Giacomo Gargano of Irfis will focus on innovative financial funds and instruments. The session will be closed by the Chairman of the Sicilian Regional Authority, the Honorable Nello Musumeci.

“For corporations like ours,” declared Antonio Amati, “which operate in the knowledge economy sector, Southern Italy is a preferential territory. It boasts a network of excellent universities and its high percentage of young population is certainly an attractive factor. During the course of 2018, we started the AlmavivA Digitaltec company in Naples, which has branches in Palermo, Cagliari, Reggio Calabria, Bari and Mestre. We have hired around 280 professionals, offering those with experience the possibility of returning to their native cities and graduates in engineering, mathematics and physics an occupation that immediately engaged them in important digital transformation projects in Italy and at a European level.”
