AlmavivA Contact Palermo: the workforce approves the proposal, agreement signed

Roma, 24th May 2017 – The referendum held at AlmavivA Contact in Palermo had a positive outcome and a message of shared responsibility emerged.

The very broad consensus in favour of the agreement – some 82% of the voters – shows that the workforce has understood its innovative elements and improvements compared to any other agreement stipulated thus far between trade union organisations and companies of the sector.

The agreement aims to define the initial steps to tackle the critical phase, protect jobs, recover competitiveness and attempt to bring the Palermo site to the crucial break-even point.

These ambitious goals must be accompanied by the necessary development of a regulated market, which is now possible thanks to the recent measures by the government, and by the equally necessary finalisation of the current situation under way with Alitalia.

The agreement, signed in Palermo yesterday by the company and by the amalgamated unions (RSU), entails a series of measures comprising social shock absorbers, new company welfare initiatives, relaunching of production quality and efficiency, aided by training programmes geared towards enhancing professional skills, and temporary interventions – for a period of 12 months – on remunerations.

Moreover, the agreement establishes the creation of a Joint Committee comprising representatives of workers (RSU), of local trade unions and of the company, with the aim of monitoring the implementation of the agreed measures and analysing their impact on the site’s performance trend.
