Final Government solution

Rome, 22 December 2016 – The agreement concluded with the Trade Unions at the Ministry for Economic Development, based on the Government’s proposal, effectively identifies the strategic issues and actions that need to implemented to address the situation at AlmavivA Contact in structural terms, which is a pre-requisite for ensuring the necessary economic and production balance of the Company.

The measures set out in the agreement, and relating to quality, efficiency, productivity and, temporarily, the cost of labor, underpin the new business project of AlmavivA Contact, which aims to combine a stable reorganization project, the recovery of a competitive edge and employment continuity.

The Government’s initiative, which confirms its constant attention to the crisis and the negotiations between the parties, has enabled us to define a credible shared roadmap, based on effective guidelines, clear commitments and a definite timetable, accompanied by the temporary application of social shock absorber schemes.

A roadmap that can rely on the decisive contribution of responsibility by the Trade Unions, witnessed by their highest exponents, after a phase marked by controversial positions with regard to the seriousness of the crisis and the need for real discussions on the solutions that should be put into place.

This attitude may have generated a certain degree of disorientation, which could, perhaps, be traced in the refusal to sign the agreement by the representatives of the Rome unions, whose decision we – in any case – acknowledge.

In order to place the situation of AlmavivA Contact within a process leading to a renewed and regulated market context, it will now be necessary to translate the commitments written in the agreement, into consistent accords, within the next ninety days, in the presence of the guarantee role played by the Government.
