“A Focus on Project Sustainability”: Fulvio Conti speaks at the final conference of PoliMI’s Digital Agenda Observatory

“It’s clear that the NRRP has triggered a process that will bring about significant improvements for the country, but attention must be paid to project sustainability. This challenge can’t be overcome solely by relying on new funding from the state.” These were the words of Fulvio Conti, Head of Local PA Delivery & NRRP for Almaviva, speaking this morning during the conference presenting the results of the study conducted by the Digital Agenda Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano’s School of Management, in collaboration with Almaviva.

“Rather, it is necessary,” Conti continued, “to ensure that the new platforms provide greater efficiency through the integration of public and private entities. We’re experiencing a phase in which every market needs to implement broader ecosystem strategies through new organizational models: in healthcare with nationwide enabling platforms, in water management with decentralization and tariffs that, thanks to smart meter services, will continue to grow, and so on and so forth.”

“Currently, there are still some unresolved issues, including concerns about digital signatures, the importance of employee skills and training, and the promotion of ‘Made in ‘Italy’ and nationalization.

We need these services to be aggregated in order to create added value and enable private companies to make medium and long-term investments, thus triggering a virtuous process that stimulates and accelerates innovation in public administration.”

“There must be a cultural shift towards a vision in which digital technology is merely a tool for delivering the PA's services and isn’t necessarily owned by the PA. The service can be used according to a SaaS - Software as a Service - model, whereby the administration takes care of the organizational and managerial aspects, but not the computer system itself.”
