The Smart Road & MaaS workshop was held on February 27th at the Experience Center of the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) in Abu Dhabi. The workshop is part of a series of meetings with international companies organized by the ITS sector in ITC with the goal of analyzing and highlighting the potential of Cellular Vehicles to Everything (C-V2X) communication. This technology allows vehicles to communicate with each other, with intelligent infrastructures, and with other road users to improve traffic safety and efficiency. Furthermore, the workshop explored issues related to MaaS and the integration of various transportation services into a single platform, providing comfort, efficiency, and sustainability in urban mobility solutions.

The event provided an opportunity to analyze the design, technical, and regulatory aspects associated with the future of transportation, focusing on smart roads that use C-V2X technology and on Mobility as a Service (MaaS).

Francesco Piccinonno, Chloe Hwang, and Stefania Di Serio participated on behalf of Almaviva and shared insights on cutting-edge technologies such as Cellular Vehicles to Everything (C-V2X) communication and innovative solutions for intelligent mobility, presenting the success of the C -Roads projects and other references. ITC participants included managers and professionals from various sectors, including ITS project design, traffic safety, policy, operations, and maintenance, as well as representatives from the Telecommunications and Digital Regulatory Authority (TDRA ).

The day, organized by the International Market Development department of Almaviva’s Transportation & Logistics Division and curated by Vincenzo Bloise, Riccardo Sigoni, and Alessandro Chierico, not only featured talks by specialists, but also enjoyed the participation of Andrea Carlin and the SITE partners.
